Dec 29, 2010 - Nice video. But im still not convinced they flap their wings 90 times per second.

JcmdiStockFootage Says:

Dec 29, 2010 - That's a good point. Wing-beat rates can be a little unclear. Most average-sized hummers like the one shown here, flap at about 30 full cycles per second. I define a full cycle as one stroke forward followed by one stroke back, which may be counted as 1 or 2 "flaps" depending on how you measure it. The Cuban "Bee Hummingbird" is the world's smallest hummer (and bird), and is said to have a 90-100 bps wing speed, which may be more like 45-50 full cycles - a much more reasonable speed. :-)

Jul 20, 2011 - It's like they have a built-in gyroscope for flight stability :-) Thanks for checking it out!

Aug 2, 2011 - And thats slow motion, lol

JcmdiStockFootage Says:

Aug 3, 2011 - Hardly seems like it made a dent... 600 and 1200fps slow them down significantly and still the amount of motion is surprising.. Thanks for stopping by! =)
